Built in 1898, the building on the corner of 2nd and Main streets has been home to a few entities. But for me (and my family), it is a special place. After being home to my grandparents' grocery store for years, it became one of the many crumbling buildings in small towns across the country. As I chose to move back to the area to contribute to the community, I also looked for a project.
I found that when I purchased the old store in June. While I failed in getting some of the very most "before" pictures, here are a few. Please take note, these are after hours of work of removing items throughout the building. Garbage cans full. Truck loads. Three counters in the back and a couple near the front windows.
Curious? Wondering what I am thinking? Stay tuned for more information - if you don't already know!
(And thank you for all of the words of encouragement!)

When a friend's friend ends up getting photos taken, I'll now know to have my "how do you know so-and-so" story ready. Because when I met the Thorson family, I had to take a second to remember the best way to describe how I knew our mutual connection. Sure it was college. And band. And through their sister and now brother-in-law, who were not only in band, but also my dorm. So it definitely wasn't the usual canned answer!
Despite my bad story telling, I had a blast meeting the Thorson family - who was full of energy and could barely be contained on a sunny Sunday afternoon in the park. Glad the weather cooperated this time! (And thanks to Kelsey for putting us in contact!)

One of the many things I like about being back in the small town environment is the outdoor space. To celebrate Timmy's first birthday, we were able to shoot right in their yard. Despite a little chill in the air for being the first of June, Timmy and his mother Laura (along with a couple of helpful family members) were great in front of the camera! Happy Birthday, Timmy!

Welcome to my new website and blog! A big thank you to my wonderful web designer, Melissa Ward. This year, I have decided to bring my camera and move to small-town southeast Nebraska. After spending time visiting around the world and traveling across the country, I am ready to be part of the Nebraska communities!
This blog will be where I will showcase any recent work and let you get to meet some of the wonderful people I meet through my camera.
Want to see anything specific here? Or do you have a photography question? For any questions, please contact me and I might make a special blog post!
